We built a custom CLI wizard. Once you are on a KIRE shell, type getegg — Eggdrop gets installed, configured, and on IRC in minutes. Default build is Eggdrop 1.10.2rc2 (release candidate, not final 1.10.2).

That is what getegg installs unless you ask otherwise. RC2 from eggheads — we label it RC2 on purpose. Not “1.10.2 stable.”

Latest stable: getegg -v 1.10.1. Older tree still offered: 1.9.5. Pick the version that matches your scripts and your risk tolerance.

Eggdrop is the IRC bot that has been sitting in channels since before some of you had a distro. Tcl, partyline, userfile, the whole archaeology. It holds ops, runs scripts, and does not care that you went to lunch.

SSH in, run the wizard (or build by hand if you insist), point it at a vhost, let it daemonize. You keep the config, the scripts, the blame. We keep the machine and the flood filter.

No setup. No Tcl. No “wait, which .conf?”

If you just want a bot in the channel and you do not want to learn Eggdrop, that is a different product. We put it in the channel. You remote-control it. Linux experience: optional.

    Get a shell. SSH in. You should see a prompt, not a marketing page.
  2. 02
    Type getegg for the Auto-Installer Wizard (default 1.10.2rc2). Want latest stable instead: getegg -v 1.10.1. Optional: pick a vhost — vhosts or the gallery.
  3. 03
    Finish the prompts. The bot lands configured and on IRC in minutes. Keep your own copy of the config and userfile.
  4. 04
    If the hostname is still a raw IP, wait for PTR. It is DNS, not a vibe. FAQ has the impatient version. Power users can still compile by hand — the wizard is the short path, not a cage.

You run an IRC channel. You need something that stays opped when everyone else is asleep, netsplit, or “just restarting mIRC.” That something is usually Eggdrop. It is a daemon. It speaks IRC. It runs scripts. It is not a SaaS.
